Congratulations to the Canadians in Quebec who had the courage and conviction to exhibit their common sense in officially banning the hijab for certain transactions where identity is mandatory. It's a start.
It's a privilege to be allowed to immigrate and to live in this country, not a right. When this hit the e-news a few weeks ago, there was overwhelming support by the readers who AGREED with Quebec's action.
Letter to the Editor:
So many letter writers have explained how this land is made up of immigrants. Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of "immigrant" any longer.
Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to America, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line at Ellis Island and be documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home. They had waved good bye to their birth place to happily give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture.
Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills, craftsmanship and desire they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.
Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. Americans fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany, Italy, France, Japan, China, Czechoslovakia, Russia, Sweden, Poland and so many other places. None of these first generation Americans gave a thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Canadians fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending Freedom as one people. When we liberated France, no one in those villages was looking for the Italian-American or the German-American or the Irish-American. The people of France saw only Americans.
And we carried one flag that represented our country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be a American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.
And here we are in 2010 with a new kind of immigrant who wants our rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes an American passport but a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country.
I'm sorry, that's not what being a American is all about. Americans have been very open-hearted and open-minded regarding immigrants, whether they were fleeing poverty, dictatorship, persecution, or whatever else makes us think of those aforementioned immigrants who truly did ADOPT our country, and our flag and our morals and our customs, and left their wars, hatred, and divisions behind. I believe that the immigrants who landed in America in the early 1900s deserve better than that for the toil, hard work and sacrifices of their efforts and wisdom. Those people who legally searched for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags, fighting foreign battles on our soil, trying to make Americans change to suit their religions and cultures, and wanting to change our country's fabric by claiming discrimination when we do not give in to their demands.
Its about time we get real and stand up for our forefathers rights, we are American. Lest we forget.
I am a Native of this Country and proud of it!
No more political correctness. None.
No more not saying CHRISTMAS in stores and our schools.
I want the America of my birth back.

My grandfather came to America to gain freedom, but it didn't work. My grandmother came over on the very next boat.

A MESSAGE FOR AMERICA
Be sure to click the header. You'll like it.
This one is about a couple of pages I found at other blogs. I agree with them wholeheartedly and will help pass them along. Maybe our Congress will see them and do something to help us.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I was reading a copy of NM Stockman last night and came to the obits. Four entries read ages 83, 86, 92 and 101. And the fifth one read; Robert N. Krentz, 58, murdered on his ranch. That just ain't right.
If you agree with the letter and movement below, please support them by filling out the comment form on the site. This is not some lame "sign this e-mail petition and forward" nonsense" - your comment really will help. You don't have to be a cattleman, live in the southwest or even in the states to voice your support. Contrary to what the usual dissenters are shrieking, murder, crime and national security matters are not racist issues. Don't let the PC abusers silence your voice this time.
I don't usually forward e-mails to my whole e-mail list, but we need some help here in Southwestern NM and Southeastern Arizona. The Arizona Cattle Growers has come up with a plan to secure the southern border. This plan was developed with the help of local ranchers and property owners living along the border and expanded to include all the states along the border.
Unfortunately, our elected officials are not listening to the handful of voters that live along the border. Only the elected representatives and senators whose constituents are being directly impacted by the increasing drug and human smuggling are alarmed. The rest of the House of Representatives and Senate have been convinced by a handful of activists this is a racial issue. It's NOT!! All Arizona is trying to do is get rid of the criminal elements that have immigrated into our border states. Their law mirrors the federal law that is not being enforced!!If you agree our borders should be secured, please sign on to this plan and forward this to others that agree. Please help us press our elected officials - nation-wide - to SECURE OUR BORDERS!!
Thank you.
Judy Keeler.

If you are interested, would you please go to the web site below and endorse the Restore Our Border (ROB) plan named for Rob Krentz who was murdered by an illegal alien on his own land? The Arizona Cattle Growers need lots of endorsements. Thank you for your consideration.

My wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC Register which, of course, was not printed. So, I decided to "print" it myself by sending it out on the Internet. Pass it along if you feel so inclined.
Written in response to a series of letters to the editor in the Orange County Register:
___________________________________________________________________
Dear Editor: So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren't being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry.
Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented.
Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.
They had waved good bye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity. Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out.
My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany , Italy , France and Japan . None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan . They were defending the United States of America as one people. When we liberated France, no one in those villages were looking for the French-American or the German- American or the Irish-American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here.
These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl. And here we are with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags. And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty , it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn't start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.

The reason for this picture?
Simple, really. I saw a comparison between Obamacare and the true meaning of his Health Care Plan.
--------------------------------
And I haven't been able to figure that out, either. Every time I take a look at the plan (should that be a capital P?), My head starts swimming with all the potential dangers that are on almost every single page.
-----------------------------------
It's sort of like inviting that hairy, tattooed guy with the bad teeth to join you at your dinner table. And stay overnight. For a week or two.
Mr. President Obama apparently doesn't see it my way. He thinks (maybe?) that this disaster of a piece of legislation has a chance.
He is so sold on this farce (of which, by the way, he did not write a paragraph) that he has sent one of his minions, the Reverend Jim Wallis (of whom, U.S. News and World Report said,
"In more than three decades in the capital, the 60-year-old Wallis has never been much in demand.") He was apparently so liberal that, in the early 1970s, he faced pressure to leave Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Illinois because of his anti-Vietnam War activism. Oh. I'm sure there are other things he found most people would not accept, but that's not the reason for this blog.
In an interview between Glen and Pat some of the conversation went like this:
GLENN: "Yes. The Reverend Jim Wallis."
PAT: "Oh, that Christian blogger. And by the way, did they mention that he's an advisor, a spiritual advisor to the president of the United States, Barack Obama?"
But do we care about a far left evangelical, attacking a loud mouthed, often unthinking, right wing commentator?
Nah.
But what I see here is a man in a position of great power, stooping to squeeze a pimple when he has no need to behave this way.
I see our President acting like the school bully in an attempt to discredit a man who can handle that chore himself. He can do a numer on himself.
What I see is a man who has the power to destroy the world, behaving like a spoiled brat and trying to harm a citizen of his own country. Trying to harm an equally legitimate citizen who has a right to his own opinion.
And that use of power scares me.

A few days ago, I came across something that might explain this picture:
"THE BUDGET SHOULD BE BALANCED,
THE TREASURY SHOULD BE REFILLED,
PUBLIC DEBT SHOULD BE REDUCED,
THE ARROGANCE OF OFFICIALDOM SHOULD BE TEMPERED AND CONTROLLED,
AND THE ASSISTANCE TO FOREIGN LANDS SHOULD BE CURTAILED LEST ROME BECOME BANKRUPT.
PEOPLE MUST AGAIN LEARN TO WORK, INSTEAD OF LIVING ON PUBLIC ASSISTANCE".
CICERO, 55 BC
How did Cicero know this might happen?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While I'm at it, here's a look into the poor level of our schools when it comes to teaching English.
"Among the proposals are a quarter-cent increase in the gross receipts tax and a 50-cents-a-package increase in cigarette the tax (sic). Another measure will reinstate a portion of the gross receipts tax on food."
Now, that could have been done in several locations while preparing for print media. But nobody caught it.
Here's something else:
"Lawmakers Consider Sales Tax Increase"
was the headline. The thing is that New Mexico does NOT have a sales tax. Never has had a sales tax. But I find this kind of thing in common usage here. Does it indicate the schools are not doing their job in teaching our State economics to the kids? You betcha dupa it does.
Not a big deal? Open to argument. But it is symptomatic of the erosion and destruction of knowledge going on in our schools.
Just sayin'.

For those interested in Zero Tolerance Rules, here's a few selections seen recently:
Patrick Timoney, 9, was playing with Legos at lunch time at Public School 52 on Staten Island, N.Y. He particularly liked the policeman figure, since his father is a retired cop. But the boy was hauled into the principal's office for possession of a gun -- the tiny plastic one held by the Lego policeman.
"They made me sign a statement," the tear-stained fourth-grader said. "She told me to write that I had a gun," he said.
"She said, 'A gun is a gun'."
The boy's mother had something to say about that. "This principal is a bully and a coward, and needs to be held accountable," said Laura Timoney, 44. "Why didn't anyone step up with an ounce of common sense and put an end to the harassment of my child?" (New York Daily News)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alexa Gonzalez, 12, was doodling on her desk with an erasable marker at Junior High School 190 in Queens, N.Y., when officials called in police, who arrested her and took her to the precinct house in handcuffs, detaining her for several hours.
"I made two little doodles," she said later. "It could be easily erased. I started crying, like, a lot."
Once reporters got on the story, school officials backpedaled.
"Based on what we've seen so far, this shouldn't have happened," said City Education Department spokesman David Cantor. "Even when we're asked to make an arrest, common sense should prevail," agreed police spokesman Paul Browne. Still, the girl was suspended from school for several days, and she was sentenced to eight hours of community service. (New York Daily News)

HOW DID WE SURVIVE??
No matter what our kids and the new generation think about us,WE ARE AWESOME !
OUR LIFE IS LIVING PROOF !
TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then, after that, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps, not helmets, on our heads.
As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes. Riding in the back of a pick-up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this. We ate cupcakes made with lard, and we had white bread, real butter and bacon.
We drank FLAV-OR-AID made with real white sugar. And we weren't overweight. WHY? Because we were always outside playing...that's why! We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were OKAY.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Play stations, Nintendo' s and X-boxes.
There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping pong paddles, or just a bare hand and no one would call child services to report abuse. We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them. Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
We knew the penalties involved if we talked back to out teachers and we learned to respect them and listen to what we were told. The alternative was detentions after school.
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. What can kids today do besides push buttons?
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all. If YOU are one of them, CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good (?).

Jay Leno:
"With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of H1N1 flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

KINDLES AND NOOKS
I was gonna buy one of these things. At least until I thought about it and reflected on my reading habits.
Well, I like to curl up on the sofa, with a cup of coffee or tea while I read.
Balancing acts are not in my repertoire. I like to notate on the pages of the books I read, as various thoughts, awoken by the author, enter my mind.
I like to dog ear my pages (yeah, I know, but I still do it). It's handy to throw at the dog for getting into mischief.
My cat loves to curl up with me, sometimes helping to turn the pages.
I sometimes snooze off while reading. The sound of a book falling on the carpet is barely noted by my ears. I'm pretty sure a "Clunk!" would wake me.
It's never a problem for me to loan a book to a friend.
I have noticed that books do not contribute to the radiation belts we all live in. I like that.
When my butt gets sore, its an easy matter to move to a more comfortable position. Not sure how that works with a hunk of metal (or, gasp, plastic) in your hands.
I know there are other reasons, too. But as for me, I like my style of reading, better than this electronic one.
Oh, yes, the name "Kindle" sounds like something I should use in knitting.
And "Nook" sounds almost indecent to me.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is primarily a heads up, guys. While all of the news outlets have been focusing on Obama and the health care debate, the US government has been hiring some rather weird people for important tasks.
According to John Dvorak (a long time columnist for PC Magazine -- a well known commentator in the business and computer fields), the government has hired a couple of phonies to head up some programs.
The lead character is now the US Chief of Information, named Vivek Kundra. Read the article to get the details but it appears his resume is largely phony. Degrees claimed are either completely bogus or not as claimed. Dvorak has spent a great deal of time in Washington and frankly, this scares the crap out of me more than any health care debate.
Consider, personal privacy is up from grabs these days due to the constant flood of user data that flows on the web. We need some very sharp, knowledgeable people running the system and this guy is certainly not it.
Get this: the Recovery.com website the US government put together, apparently under this guy, cost 18 million dollars. Say what? What sort of freaking website cost 18 million dollars, TO PROGRAM!?!
That's right. the cost was for PROGRAMMING the site. Not for hardware like servers. Please, go to the following site and read up on it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let me see if I understand all this...
If you cross the North Korean border you get 12 years hard labor.
If you cross the Iranian border illegally you are detained indefinitely.
If you cross the Afghan border illegally you get shot.
But, if you cross the U.S. border illegally, you get a driver's licence, social security card, welfare, food stamps, a place to live and free health care.
Oh well, sure. That makes sense.

THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW...
Everything's cats today....
++++++++++++++++++++
Is it a Joke about Cat’s Jury Duty?
Is the legal system serious about a cat’s jury duty? Not likely. However this week a family from Boston, Massachusetts, was bemused about the jury summons their family pet received in the mail. Of course any mail addressed to a dog, cat or pet goldfish would create some curiosity and attention, but when the mail is requesting that the animal show up in court the matter is going to garner some type of headlines.
The Esposito family are fairly condident that they have discovered how their 4 legged feline made it into the jury pool in the first place. During an official census they wanted to include their cat, Sal, on the government form. They decided to scratch through the section on the form that was specified for “dogs” and replaced it with the word cat which was then followed with the name of their cat. These types of changes on forms are generally against the rules because they can cause problems while being automatically processed.
Apparently this is what created a computer glitch and “Sal” the cat got listed as a human member of the Esposito household. The owners did file to have Sal disqualified as a prospective juror but that request was denied and the cat is due to show up at the Superior Court in Suffolk, Massachusetts on March 23. It’s a safe bet that members of the press will also be in attendance to document this historic moment, or maybe the Suffolk Superior Court has a feline defendant that is in need of a jury panel that consists of his true peers.
I knew you needed this to perk you up after the Packers lost.

A LESSON IN GOVERNMENT SPEAK
