MY WILD THING

What can I say about Wild Thing? She is the most beautiful, thoughtful, kind person in the world. I could not do without her and her ministrations. For those of you with long memories, the song "Wild Thing" starts with the words: "Wild Thing, you make my heart sing..." And she does...she does.

GW Dubya

I read recently that President Bush once said he wanted to be a war President. Seems he really got his wish. Visions of History swam through his head and I don't believe he honestly meant the kind of war we are embroiled in now. Maybe he saw himself as that other GW, or maybe Abe Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt or perhaps Harry Truman. My personal belief is that he will not like the view History will take of him. Incompetence, waste, political cronyism, alienation are not good words to apply to any administration. Please note I am not talking about his bunged on accent (I lived in Aussie for some years), mispronunciations and lack of real leadership. Some day Clio will point out that a vanishing middle class, a buck and a quarter (or whatever) extra for the struggling lower income people and the attack on our Constitution were gross errors of judgement and led to the decline of America's power and prestige.

THE WILD WEST LIVES

It seems a pair of border patrol agents were charged recently with the murder of a Mexican drug dealer. They got long, long sentences, even though their attorney pointed out that in the darkness, they believed the dealer was pointing a weapon at them. I believe he even pointed out that they were doing their duty as enforcement officials. He was also stopped for being in the country illegally.
My comment is that they should have been in New Mexico. Really. Why? Well, we had a case a little while back where a Deputy Sheriff shot and killed a man, who was handcuffed, wounded and laying on the ground. He served less than one year. Western justice is a bit different than other kinds of justice apparently.

Our Governator

New Mexico, almost in its entirety, is covered with snow. Cattle are starving, people are without power, temperatures are well below freezing, snow removal is more than just difficult in a state that has never had as much snow as we do now. Men and machines are being worked to the point of exhaustion and the poor and elderly are having severe difficulties coping with a situation that has never happened here before.
But that doesn't seem to bother our Governator. Bill Richardson is going to jet off to the Sudan to try and help them with their constant warring. You heard me correctly. Problems have arisen that have never happened in the past, but our Governator is flying off to a foreign country to help them. I wonder if he would do that if he were President and the American nation had a crisis going on its own backyard?
I am not denigrating his wish to help other peoples, just wondering about his priorities. If his own house were ablaze, would he be in town trying to raise money for the local zoo?

Hooray For Bill Richardson

It seems our Governator wants to run for President. He'd like to run on his record, I believe. Let's see: He spent umpteen millions on a railroad that so far only runs for about sixty miles. (And it will cost the taxpayers well over a million per year just to maintain it.) It is not noted anywhere that it will ever pay for itself. He made a trip to North Korea while a highly placed state official was being accused of having his fingers in the till. New Mexico is one of the poorest states in America according to the Federal Government. Bill Richardson wants to build a spaceport here at an untold cost to the taxpayers of this needy state. There are more than 400,00 people living here who can't afford heath insurance, can't afford to go out to dinner, can't afford a decent home. Most of them are senior citizens. There are approximately 1,900,00 people living in this state. That puts about twenty five per cent of our population at or below the poverty level (Actually, I suspect the number is larger than that.) The initial money is coming from the "windfall" N.M. collected from the gouging oil companies, by the way. I'm curious why some of that windfall couldn't have been spent on the poor and needy seniors. He must have a heckofa political machine since the voters failed to remember that when he re-ran for Governator.

PITA

The cat who owns us, PITA, by name, took this picture of herself. And, yes, female lions sometimes have manes. She explained that to me one night while we were hunting. Canned foods with high meat content are her favorite. Oh, BTW, PITA stands for "Pain In The A**".
