THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW...

...they won't let me park in the mall. +++++++++++++++++++++++++ Be sure to click on the header. Everything's cats today.... ++++++++++++++++++++ Is it a Joke about Cat’s Jury Duty? Is the legal system serious about a cat’s jury duty? Not likely. However this week a family from Boston, Massachusetts, was bemused about the jury summons their family pet received in the mail. Of course any mail addressed to a dog, cat or pet goldfish would create some curiosity and attention, but when the mail is requesting that the animal show up in court the matter is going to garner some type of headlines. The Esposito family are fairly condident that they have discovered how their 4 legged feline made it into the jury pool in the first place. During an official census they wanted to include their cat, Sal, on the government form. They decided to scratch through the section on the form that was specified for “dogs” and replaced it with the word cat which was then followed with the name of their cat. These types of changes on forms are generally against the rules because they can cause problems while being automatically processed. Apparently this is what created a computer glitch and “Sal” the cat got listed as a human member of the Esposito household. The owners did file to have Sal disqualified as a prospective juror but that request was denied and the cat is due to show up at the Superior Court in Suffolk, Massachusetts on March 23. It’s a safe bet that members of the press will also be in attendance to document this historic moment, or maybe the Suffolk Superior Court has a feline defendant that is in need of a jury panel that consists of his true peers. I knew you needed this to perk you up after the Packers lost.

re: the header link. Unlike a LOT of others I stayed the course. My 401(k) is all the better for it, too. So I guess inertia has something going for it...

See, even inertia can be a good thing.

Hi Shrinky. Thanks for dropping by.
It is indeed true and shows us all the power of an official who either doesn't have a sense of humor or thinks that Mr. or Mrs Cat is a valid name and simply rubber stamps the papers that are placed on their desks.
Can you imagine the disasters that are likely to ensue if the Obama Health Care Bill goes through?
(I didn't see any revue applications in it, either.)
