THEY WERE JAPS THEN

We learned, from parents, politicians, school teachers and friends to call them Japs. Many of us learned to hate the very name of our enemy. The American people became one in their unity to defeat the Japanese, Germans and Italians. And, as a unified group, they got it done. A war without mercy got it done. No one stood around telling the rest of America that they lacked pity or compassion. We could not have cared less about what happened to our enemies. We simply, succinctly, wanted them destroyed. We did not care what was "politically correct". That phrase was not invented then. Win or die. That was what was written then. And brave Americans enlisted and were drafted in order to save our country. And it came to pass.
Just sayin'.

EAT YOUR WAY TO HELL

Click the header. ******************************** Did you know that the chicken you're about to dig into has never had its feet on the ground? And its very thin shell has never seen a nest? It's modern farming. The big suppliers (and the bigger, the more they practice this) jam chickens into a roost with no chance of them falling nor getting down to walk on the floor. It's called "high density stocking". Meat suppliers do the same with cattle and pigs. I can remember when ranches were rated on how many head to the acre they could handle. Big business says they can make more money by jamming the animals in until they can barely walk around. Additionally, they find it's easier to load them with antibiotics to prevent illness outbreaks. They don't loose many animals to germs that way. By the way, when we ingest that meat, we help to build a resistance to the antibiotics we just might need to save our lives one day. ************************************************************************************ Confinement at high stocking density requires antibiotics and pesticides to mitigate the spread of disease and pestilence exacerbated by these crowded living conditions. In addition, antibiotics are used to stimulate livestock growth by killing intestinal bacteria. Widespread use of antibiotics increases the chance of a pandemic resistant to known measures, which is exacerbated by a globally distributed food system. Decreased genetic diversity increases the chance of a food crisis. "An animal feeding operation is defined by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as a lot or facility where animals are kept 45 days of the year or more [and] structures or animal traffic prevents vegetative growth. Note that this is different from a EPA's definition of a Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) which is an animal feeding operation larger than a given size." http://www.google.com/search?q=CAFO+&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-ContextMenu&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7ADBS_en ********************************************************************************* *** The No Bell Peace Prize *** As to Obama and his Nobel prize; the story of Butch the Rooster John the farmer was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young layers (hens), called "pullets" and eight or ten roosters, whose job was to fertilize the eggs. The farmer kept records and any rooster that didn't perform went into the soup pot and was replaced. That took an awful lot of his time so he bought a set of tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone so John could tell from a distance which rooster was performing. Now he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report simply by listening to the bells. The farmer's favorite rooster was old Butch, and a very fine specimen he was, too. But on this particular morning John noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all! John went to investigate. The other roosters were chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing. The pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover. But to Farmer John's amazement, Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring. He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one. John was so proud of Butch, he entered him in the Boone County Fair and Butch became an overnight sensation among the judges. The result: The judges not only awarded Butch the No Bell Piece Prize but they also awarded him the Pulletsurprise as well. Clearly Butch was a politician in the making: who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most highly coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention? **********************************************************************************

ARMISTICE DAY, 2009

Click the header. Or else. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The eagle still still soars over our military and the self sacrificing men and women who make up our armed forces. God bless you, every one. When I swore the allegiance oath upon enlisting in the Navy, although many years ago, I remember how the words seemed to stick in my mind, I wondered how they could only be words to some taking the oath. And, yes, I was scared. I had just volunteered to give up my life if it was needed. The oath swearing was very definitely one of the high lights, and stirring events, of my life then. And it remains so today.

KORAN OR QURAN?

Click the header.
This was written by a Canadian woman, but oh, how it also applies to the U.S., U.K. and Australia. THIS ONE PACKS A FIRM PUNCH Here is a woman who should run for Prime Minister! Written by a housewife in New Brunswick , to her local newspaper. This is one ticked off lady. Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001 and have continually threatened to do so since? Were people from all over the world not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from the capitol of the USA and in a field in Pennsylvania ? Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they? And I'm supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by a justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting against in a brutal insurgency. I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11. I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan. I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg 's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling, slashed throat. I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Afghanistan come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques and behind women and children. I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs. I'll care when the Canadian (and American) media stops pretending that their freedom of speech on stories is more important than the lives of the soldiers on the ground or their families waiting at home to hear about them when something happens. In the meantime, when I hear a story about a Canadian soldier roughing up an insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care. When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don't care. When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and "fed special" food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled," you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don't care. And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and other times 'Quran.' Well, Jimmy Crack Corn you guessed it, I don't care!!
*********************************************************************************** If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends. Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behavior! If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great Country! And may I add: 'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Soldiers don't have that problem.' I have another quote that I would like to add, AND.......I hope you forward all this. One last thought for the day: Only five defining forces have ever offered to die for you: 1. Jesus Christ 2. The British Soldier. 3. The Canadian Soldier. 4. The US Soldier, and 5. The Australian Soldier One died for your soul, the other 4 for your freedom.

SOMETIMES THE INNOCENT GETS IT

Now don't forget to click on the header.
Sometimes you feel like a bush...
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Well, it seems the University of New Mexico, not content to continue bleeding the people of New Mexico with more and more "projects" now wants us to keep paying a thug for hitting people appreciably smaller than he is.
The Regents want a winning football team.
So they hired a guy named Mike Locksley to coach their team. His former jobs included being the offensive coach of Illinois University for the past four seasons. In keeping with overpaid coaching jobs, he's happy to stick his mitts into roughly a million a year. (Meanwhile, the regents raised the registration fees for students.)
Well, the Lobos haven't won a single game under Locksley's coaching. It doesn't look as if they are going to, either. So an event occurred wherein Locksley punched an assistant coach in the face.
From the AP: New Mexico Lobos head coach Mike Locksley has been reprimanded for a fight involving an assistant coach, who told police Locksley struck him and split his lip. Athletic director Paul Krebs said at a news conference Monday that Locksley was issued "a verbal reprimand" with a follow-up letter placed in his personnel file after the Sept. 20 altercation. According to a police report, receivers coach J.B. Gerald said the fight occurred during a "heated" coaches meeting.
ESPN.com: "Locksley became angry, grabbed Gerald by the collar and punched him as other coaches tried to intervene."
Oh, did I mention that less than six months on the job and Coach Locksley was accused of sexual harassment, age discrimination and retaliation by a former administrative assistant.
The Athletic Director, Paul Krebs, stood behind the man he helped get the job. saying: "He is an outstanding football coach. I believe he is an outstanding individual," Krebs said. "I'm really looking forward to what he's able to build here long-term with our football program."
I guess that case is satisfied:
"Locksley's Ex-Worker Gets Raise, Free" By Martin Salazar, Albuquerque Journal Staff Writer
The woman, Sylvia Lopez, who dropped her sexual harassment and age discrimination complaint against the University of New Mexico's embattled football coach is getting thousands in back pay, a newly created job with a hefty pay increase and season tickets to all Lobo athletic programs.
Nor will University officials say whether Lopez is receiving any additional financial compensation as part of the settlement.
Lopez also got a different job (it pays about $5500 more per year) and she is also getting free season tickets for all Lobo athletics programs, UNM Communications Director Susan McKinsey said.
That's a settlement, it seems to me.
Now I'd like to ask Mr. Krebs, and the Regents, if they are sure this is the kind of man we want to teach our kids fair play, listening to others viewpoints and being respectful?
I have no intention of supporting the Lobos in any way, while they a bully teaching mayhem.

HAPPY AMERICA DAY

Don't forget the link. It was interesting to see an early conservative's writing. *********************************************** The Santa Maria sank. I didn't find out about their crew, but I assume they were rescued by the other ships. What I knnow is this: I am a deep water sailor. Average size lakes mean little to me. I cut my eye teeth on Lake Michigan and moved up to the Pacific as soon as I could. But looking at the artist's rendering of those small, leaky tubs, I don't know if I'd have sailed in one. Anyway, Happy Columbus Day.

Don't forget to check the header.

There's a prize for those who can guess what this is. See below.

TRAGEDY IN LA

In South Los Angeles, a 4-plex was destroyed by a fire.

  • A Nigerian family of six con artists lived on the first floor, and all six died in the fire.
  • An Islamic group of seven welfare cheats, all illegally in the country from Kenya, lived on the second floor, and they, too, all perished in the fire.
  • Six LA, Hispanic, Gang Banger, ex-cons, lived on the 3rd floor and they, too, died.
  • A lone, white couple lived on the top floor. The couple survived the fire.
  • Jesse Jackson, John Burris and Al Sharpton were furious. They flew into LA and met with the fire chief, on camera. They loudly demanded to know why the Blacks, Black Muslims and Hispanics all died in the fire and only the white couple lived? The fire chief said, "They were at work."

JUST SAYIN', MR PRESIDENT

There's one under the header today.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And I used to use War and Peace to put me to sleep at night. I just don't know if I can afford the toner to print out that "health" bill. Wonder if I could get a grant from the White House? I'm tired of the Dems calling the 'Pubs names. And vice versa. Cat fights suck. And the man who was elected to bring us all together acting like a teenager. For some reason I have the feeling that he is still learning what we require of him. All this political infighting is the result of none of us thinking where the costs are and what can be done to halt the spiral. Apparently it is easier for the shallow minded to call names and be vicious, than to offer some alternatives. (I object to things like a surgeon charging $2,000+ for a minimally invasive 15 minute operation. I object to anestheologists who charge $2,400+ for the same operation. I resent $1,000 a day hospital rooms. And lots more rip off charges.) Here's a few alternatives I think might be accomplished to help stop us feeding on ourselves: 1. Doctors (including all medical practitioners), but primarily surgeons who overcharge need to be reined in. Anesthesiologists who overcharge for the same operation must suffer the same fate. These kinds of charges are an insult to patients. Knowing they have you in a lock (no pay, no operation) these practitioners are free to charge what ever they choose. So you get to pay it. Or your insurance company does. Or the government does. Eventually, it comes from your pocket. 2. Hospitals (all of them, every single one) have cute ways of charging fees that are eating up medicare and insurance money. Not just having a big bite, but wolfing it down in what seems to be a "pig out" contest. A couple examples: $2,000 a night for a shared room at a state university hospital. $300 for a television set that doesn't work properly. Tests never performed but charged for. Food never delivered but charged for. Medicines charged for but never given. 3. Insurance companies aren't going broke. Their rates and exclusions have, instread, broken more than one family's finances. Arbitrary limitations put more money in management pockets and the raising of their "operating costs" eat up your dollars. 4. The failure of medicare and medicade to challenge the bills they pay (with your money) to the "get rich quick gang" is an inherent fault which guarantees overcharging and theft. When any payee function that does not have an adequate oversight committee to catch the cheaters and make them pay fines and assessments, guess whose signature will be on the check signing line? 5. The insatiable greed of the drug companies wanting to swallow each other whole so that one will emerge as the omnipotent source for all the chemicals we consume via our medical orders. Until caps are put on their owners and salaries (across the board), it will continue to keep Americans poor. I also believe they should not be allowed to advertise their habit forming products any more than cigarette companies and liquor dealers. After all, the drug companies products have the same effects on the majority of us. 6. A government that wants change, but takes the wrong road, will meet with resistance from a section of its commonwealth. A government that cannot see how such an undertaking (altering health care costs without adequate policing) will open the bureaucratic doors to wild growth and the resultant over staffing (and secreting of those who could help the populace), of good people who become afraid to be known lest they loose their overpaid positions are non-arguable facts. Examine any government agency. Whistleblowers, instead of being protected to the fullest extent of the law, are most often moved to bland, boring jobs, or told to find work elsewhere. 7. A final (perhaps it should be first) need: ALL elected officials, their families and staff must also use the same system of health care that we, the people, use. Our Constitution and Bill of Rights are aimed at one man's life being as valuable as anothers. We do NOT need elitists in our country. We are neither China nor Russia...yet.
There are other, even more stringent plans available with more money saving, but as the man said: "This is a start". Let's keep America American.

CENSORSHIP IS CENSORSHIP

Click the header...it's a wonderful world.
-------------------------------
Censoring anything in America today should raise a flag warning of the dangers.
But apparently there are some people who think everything we do, from buying guns to going to the toilet, should be government knowledge.
Cameras invade our privacy whether they help solve crimes (and are ignored at sentencing time) or simply spy on everyday activities. As you can see from the picture above, they even interfere with our perversions. (Shuckie durn.)
But it is NOT funny in reality. Not at all.
When I attended college (even though it was considered a very liberal school), spying on one's neighbor was considered an evil and something not to be done.
But our Congress (some of it, anyway) is considering a bill that a whacked out Senator from West (by God) Virginia is sponsoring. Personally I have less than "no time" for this clown.
Have a read:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
This bill, as frightening as it is, could also open the door for our thoughtful and fair government clerks deciding what information you must disclose and when the government would exercise control over your computer(s) or network.

It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves." - William Pitt,

I'M SCARED...VERY SCARED

Click the header. It's from the glory days.

Is it all downhill? -------------------------------------- "ABC and NBC have refused to run a national ad critical of President Obama's health care reform plan." So say the headlines from web "newspapers". (http://www.politicsdaily.com/2009/08/28/abc-and-nbc-refuse-to-run-ad-critical-of-obama-health-care/?icid=mainhtmlws-maindl5link5http%3A%2F%2Fwww.politicsdaily.com%2F2009%2F08%2F28%2Fabc-and-nbc-refuse-to-run-ad-critical-of-obama-health-care2F You can see the videohere.) As I see it, this is no longer a matter of wanting or not wanting either a "changed system" nor "Obama Care" in these United States. It has, instead, become something alien to our way of life and thinking. It is the undesirable way of knuckling under to the class bully. Did the Axis win WW II and we are about to enter into a totalitarian nightmare? The lame answers from these two networks (ABC and NBC) indicate something I never thought would be seen in the United States. It no longer matters whether one is for or against the Obama "Health Care" program. The only thing that matters is whether one is for or against the freedoms America stands for. It is blatantly apparent that these once proud networks have knuckled under to pressure from the White House and its minions. We must rise up and say we will not accept your weakling cowardice nor sorry excuses. We are smarter than you think we are. The United States was not built, nor can it long survive, without freedom of speech (read dissent). For anyone, anyone, to assume that only his way is right and force the rest of the country to follow his decisions will be fatal to our way of life. It is not a case of "I think he's right" nor "I think he's wrong". It is a case of much greater existence than that. It concerns the great freedoms in our once and still proud country. Your forebears, who gave their blood and lives to keep us one country and to protect that country, would not want us to surrender one inch of the freedoms they fought so valiantly for. Censorship is alien to the United States. Fight it at the polling booths. Don't surrender, America.

MONTANA NEWS

Montana town hall meeting, Obama town hall, August 14, 2009, SEIU thugs, White House control, Press restricted the Town Hall meeting orchestrated by the Obama camp on August 14, 2009: “Things are not always what they seem”. Hello All, By now you have probably heard that President Obama came to Montana last Friday. However, there are many things that the major news has not covered. I feel that since Joe and I live here and we were at the airport on Friday I should share some facts with you. Whatever you decide to do with the information is up to you. If you chose to share this email with others I do ask that you DELETE my email address (ed. Done) before you forward this on. On Wednesday, August 5th it was announced locally that the President would be coming here. There are many groups here that are against his healthcare and huge spending so those groups began talking and deciding on what they were going to do. The White House would not release ANY details other than the date. On about Tuesday Joe found out that they would be holding the “Town Hall”at the airport. (This is only because Joe knows EVERYONE at the airport). Our airport is actually located outside of Belgrade (tiny town) in a very remote location. Nothing is around there. They chose to use a hangar that is the most remotely located hangar. You could not pick a more remote location, and you can not get to it easily. It is totally secluded from the public. FYI: We have many areas in Belgrade and Bozeman which could have held a large amount of folks with sufficient parking. (gymnasiums/auditoriums). All of which have chairs and tables, and would not have to be SHIPPED IN!! $$$$$ During the week, cargo by the TONS was being shipped in constantly. Airport employees could not believe how it just kept coming. Though it was our President coming, several expressed how excessive it was, especially during a recession. $$$$$ Late Tuesday/early Wednesday the 12th, they said that tickets would be handed out on Thursday 9am at two locations and the president would be arriving around 12:30 Friday. Thursday morning about 600 tickets were passed out. However, 1500 were printed at a Local printing shop per White House request. Hmmmm……900tickets just DISAPPEARED. This same morning someone called into the radio from the local UPS branch and said that THOUSANDS of Dollars of Lobster were shipped in for Obama. Montana has some of the best beef in the nation!!! And it would have been really wonderful to help out the local economy. Anyone heard of theRecession?? Just think…with all of the traveling the White House is doing. $$$$$ One can only imagine what else we are paying for. On Friday Joe and I got out to the airport about 10:45am. The groups that wanted to protest Obama’s spending and healthcare had gotten a permit to protest and that area was roped off. But that was not to be. A large bus carrying SEIU (Service Employees International Union) members drove up onto the area (illegal) and unloaded right there. It was quite a commotion and there were specifically 2 SEIU men trying to make trouble and start a fight. Police did get involved and arrested the one man but they said they did not have the manpower to remove the SEIU crowd. The SEIU crowd was very organized and young. About 99% were under the age of 30 and they were not locals! They had bullhorns and PROFESSIONALLY made signs. Some even wore preprinted T-shirts. Oh, and PlannedParenthood folks were with them…..professing abortion rights with their T-shirts and preprinted signs. (BTW, all these folks did have a permit to protest in ANOTHER area) Those against healthcare/spending moved away from the SEIU crowd to avoid confrontation. They were orderly and respectful. Even though SEIU kept coming over and walking through, continuing to be very intimidating and aggressive at the direction of the one SEIU man. So we had Montana folks from ALL OVER the state with their homemade signs and their DOGS with homemade signs. We had cowboys, nurses, doctors you name it. There was even a guy from Texas who had been driving through. H efound out about the occasion, went to the store, made a sign, and came to protest. If you are wondering about the press…..Well, all of the major networks were over by that remote hangar I mentioned. They were conveniently parked on the other side of the buildings FAR away. None of these crowds were even visible to them. I have my doubts that they knew anything about the crowds. We did have some local news media around us from this state and Idaho. Speaking of the local media…they were invited. However, all questions were to be turned into the White House in advance of the event. Wouldn’t want anyone to have to think off the top of their head. It was very obvious that it was meant to be totally controlled by the White House. Everything was orchestrated down to the last detail to make it appear that Montana is just crazy for Obama and government health care. Even those people that talked about their insurance woes……..the WhiteHouse called our local HRDC (Human Resource and Development Committee) and asked for names. Then the White House asked those folks to come. Smoke and mirrors…EVERYTHING was staged!!!!!!!!!!! I am very dismayed about what I learned about our current White House. The amount of control and manipulation was unbelievable. I felt I was not living in the United States of America, more like the USSR!! I was physically nauseous. Joe and I have been around when Presidents or Heads of State visit. It has NEVER been like this. I am truly very frightened for our country. America needs your prayers and your voices. If you care about our country please get involved. Know the issues. And let Congress hear your voices again and again!! If they are willing to put forth so much effort to BULLY a small town one can only imagine what is going on in Washington DC. Scary!!” !#12 - Sat Aug 22, 2009 5:52 AM MDT ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyone that wants the presidency so much that he'll spend two years organizing and campaigning for it is not to be trusted with the office. - David Broder ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q - What did the palm tree say to the coconut tree as Hurricane Bill approached? TERRORIST FREED BY AN ALLY

There's something under the header.
(If you believe in psych tests.)
---------------------------------
The Libyan government has played down claims Megrahi would return to Tripoli a hero.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Col. Gaddafi turned Libya into a haven for anti-Western radicals. Any group, no matter how bloodstained or discredited, could receive his guns and cash, provided it claimed to be fighting "imperialism". Thus Idi Amin, the Ugandan despot who believed in nothing save self-enrichment and murder, was a particular favourite. When Amin faced a war which eventually overthrew him in 1979, Col. Gaddafi tried to save his friend by sending Libyan troops to fight in Uganda. A host of murderous leaders were sponsored by Col Gaddafi, notably Charles Taylor, the Liberian despot, and Foday Sankoh, the psychotic commander of the rebels who laid waste to Sierra Leone. Col Gaddafi also served as paymaster and arms dealer to the IRA, while helping out a host of extremists on the fringe of the Palestine Liberation Organisation. All this made him a crucial enemy of the West, causing President Ronald Reagan to label him a "mad dog" and order American bombers to strike Tripoli in 1986. Two years later, Pan Am flight 103 was destroyed above Lockerbie. Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, a Libyan intelligence agent, was later convicted for planting the bomb on the Boeing 747, while Col Gaddafi's regime formally accepted responsibility for this attack and paid compensation to the families of those who died.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In 1988, Pan Am flight 103 was destroyed above Lockerbie, Scotland.
Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, a so-called Libyan "intelligence agent", was later convicted of planting the bomb on the Boeing 747.
Col . Gaddafi's regime formally accepted responsibility for this attack and paid compensation to the families of those who died.
This morning, the terrorist intelligent agent was released by the Scottish government in the form of Kenny MacAskill, the Scottish Justice Minister.
I do not accept releasing a terrorist murderer because he has cancer or any other disease.
I accept releasing him if it is proven he was not involved.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reacting to the decision, US president Barack Obama said: "We have been in contact with the Scottish Government, indicating that we objected to this and we thought it was a mistake." He said they had also contacted the Libyan government to ask that Megrahi not be "welcomed back" but instead placed under house arrest.
Uh, maybe BO should have sent Hillary to Libya? Seems his bowing and scraping didn't do any good. It also proves that we're not loved in Libya.

SHERIFF GRADY JUGG - A HERO?

Don't forget to click the header.
POLK COUNTY FLORIDA SHERIFF GRADY JUDD
An illegal alien in Polk County Florida who got pulled over in a routine traffic stop ended up "executing" the http://www.hdtvinfoport.com/TV-Antenna.htmldeputy who stopped him.
The deputy was shot eight times, including once behind his right ear at close range. Another deputy was wounded and a police dog killed.
A state wide manhunt ensued. The murderer was found hiding in a wooded area with his gun. After he shot at them, SWAT team officers opened fire and hit the guy 68 times.
Now here's the kicker: Naturally, the liberal media went nuts and asked why they shot the poor undocumented immigrant 68 times.
Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel: (Talk about an all-time classic answer.)
"Because that's all the ammunition we had."

_____________________________________________________________ The Perfect Solution to Senior Health Care
While discussing the upcoming Universal Health Care Program with my sister-in-law the other day, I think we have found the solution.
I am sure you have heard the ideas that if you're a senior you need to suck it up and give up the idea that you need any health care.
A new hip? Unheard of. We simply can't afford to take care of you anymore.
You don't need any medications for your high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, etc. Lets take care of the young people. After all, they will be ruling the world very soon.
So here is the solution. When you turn 70, you get a gun and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives.
Of course, you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head and all the health care you need! New teeth, great! Need glasses, no problem.
New hip, knee, kidney, lung, heart? Well, bring it on. And who will be paying for all of this? The same government that just told you that you are too old for health care. And, since you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income tax.
I really think we have found a Perfect Solution!

The saddest part of these LA Times stories is that they are also running an opinion piece by a reporter who worked at this collapsing trade for 30 years. He deplores the states that have carry laws and even those that don't have them, but do allow their citizens to have guns.
I wish I could point out to him that San Diego is only a few hours drive from downtown LA.

SUPERMAN AND KRYPTONITE

There's something new under the header that proves some of us have too much money and too much free time.
************************************
There's been guesses that seem to imply BO is running into a flaw in his plan to neutralize (some say Moslemize) America.
And we all know Superman is rendered ineffective by Kryptonite. What we did not know is that kryptonite might just be made up of senior citizens.
BO's "Town Hall" meetings seem to be going against his administration. We all know that kind of meeting is old American institution and serves to bring our citizens into contact with elected officials and what the people want by way of laws and leadership. A way to let them know we are, or aren't happy with their actions and what we would like to see enacted for our benefit.
There's been a lot of commentary and vociferation about and during the President and his minions talks.
****************************************************************************
Here's an example from a 77 year old man:
Gentlemen: A few minutes ago, I heard the President explain how the Health Plan would affect the elderly. It was most illuminating.
He essentially told us that in cases of serious illness to the elderly that, if in the judgment of those in charge, this was a situation where the possibility of recovery was low, the patient would be given the medication necessary to keep them comfortable.
No discussion about keeping them alive. Surgery, or some other exotic form of expensive work, would not make sense. Being 77 years old, I don't think I care for that course of treatment. Sort of reminded me of the old time American Plains Indians who gave their elderly a small package of food and left him or her to die, alone, quietly in the wilderness.
It also brought to mind the Nazis who would require a disabled (mentally or physically) child to be brought to a hospital for treatment and then would make sure he was killed as he did not represent a productive citizen of the country and should, therefore, be removed from society. Sweethearts, weren't they?
We let our parents die but give life to an Arab who has just slit someone's throat on TV because he didn't believe as they felt he should. Your support for the President is appalling. If you do not abandon your support for the President's health plan, I will send a copy of a letter to the 585 members of my club in Florida and 250 members to my club in NJ asking them to make sure to drop their membership in AARP when up for renewal. I spoke to several members and they told me that they would rather call and demand a refund! I also would go to our next town council meeting and ask for their repudiation of this plan and have it placed in the newsletter that goes out every month to 9000 citizens. Also, a letter to Governor Corzine, who needs every vote he can get, telling him of the true position of we, the elderly. It is outrageous and morally reprehensible that you support a bill that would deny me medical treatment simply because I am past a certain age (treatment I might desire and have the means to purchase and that might prolong my life), despite decades of being a productive citizen and duly paying my yearly taxes, but would direct those resources to treat illegal aliens who haven't contributed a penny to the public coffers!
A country cannot survive when it rewards the takers and punishes the givers. A people cannot flourish when bureaucracies decide who shall live and who shall die. Very truly yours,
M. Johnson
*********************************************************************************
Another comment (unsigned)
For those in the know, it's evident Obama wants to bankrupt America starting with his health plan to deny older people care, "As their life is nearly over, and not as important as the youthful ones." What's really pathetic is that your state and all the millions who voted for him are in shock and disbelief! I certainly didn't vote for him, and would never vote for anyone like him. Blame it on the morons.
**********************************************************************************
Again:
"...although I agree with your sensibilities, I have found that, over a few years the bureaucrats hide behind other bureaucrats, behind others and so on until the responsible SOB can no longer be found, nor will that person even deign to speak to you. "I use the VA for my medical services and over the past three or four years, they seem to be edging into the "give 'em a pill to ease the problem, but keep the doctors on a schedule where no patients get the really required care. Because we all know the old vets will die off and solve this problem themselves." I have a modest suggestion however. Since this thing is a brain child of the present administration, let us start with the three branches of government.
Each of the three must refuse extra or special caretaking for parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, brothers, sisters, or immediate family members of any and everyone serving in any of the three branches of government.
These relatives will receive medications and services that will (we hope) prolong their lives. They are not to receive transplants, blood in excess of three pints, oxygen in more than two C tanks per day.
Major operations, hip replacements and/or the myriad of operations people need as they grow older will not be scheduled immediately but in due course.
They may, however, have face lifts, tummy tucks and plastic surgery to improve the way they look so we younger people will see them as good looking oldsters. These older people may not have surgeries performed by surgeons with more than three such operations under their belts. After all, the new doctors need practice, too. All of this must start with any and all relatives of those people in the Executive Branch with the other two branches being added over a three month period. Please note, in keeping with the growth of bureaucracy, those who hold this power of life and death will never be exposed to the public's scrutiny. Their presence will be denied and no reference to such offices will be allowed to be made. One more note: The relatives of the POTUS are to be excluded from this act. As are the relatives of multi millionaires and their hanger ons. As long as they can pay for it.
********************************************************************************
It is not just the poorly planned health care plan, nor its doomed to failure clauses. It is an accumulation of frustrations. To name a few:
and finally:
**********************************************************************************
I can't resist some fun in this diatribe:
After both the Chief Justice John Roberts and President Barack Obama couldn't quote the Constitution correctly, the thought occurred to me that we might not have seen the last of President Bush.

QUO VADIS USA?

Click the header. Please. *********************************************** There are things happening, whether we see them or not, on every street in America. Things most of us do not want to see happen. *********************************************** I get emails from a few people I consider real friends. Herewith an excerpt from one I received this week: "I want to know who came up with the brilliant idea to invite people of absolutely conflicting cultures into our nations. What evil and pompous bastard thought it would be a good idea and supreme salve to his smug and elitist soul? Well, I know that one was Pierre Trudeau for starters. I was acquainted with his mistress that remained until his death. Numb-nutted idealists or worse ... at best. Meanwhile, we folk get to deal with the fall-out of colliding societies but without the gated Ivy Tower district. A conservative believes in limited Constitutional government as close to home as possible, the enduring worth of traditional values, and a strong national defense." ********************************************************************************** Another: "The events of last week should make it abundantly clear – beyond any possibility of denial – that America is now a one-party state. "The great political division in this society is not conservative vs. liberal, or even Republican vs. Democrat. The great division is between a small group of plutocrats on one side, and the rest of the population on the other." ********************************************************************************** One by Stephen LaTulippe, MD. Contemporary America is rather like an overdosed crack addict sprawled face-down in the gutter. For decades, our economy has been smoking the heady drug of cheap credit, which served to "stimulate demand" and produce pleasurable but artificial booms. Unfortunately, each boom was followed by an inevitable bust as the credit-fueled bubbles burst – first in internet stocks, and now in real estate. Like every addict who finally "hits the bottom," America now faces a stark choice: Do we suffer through a violent, shaking withdrawal, or do we turn away from the painful rigors of "going clean" and reach for the bong one last time? America’s addiction to cheap credit has ridden the nation into a box-canyon of sky-high debt and misallocated investments. The collapse of the sub-prime mortgage market has sent the balance sheets of our major banks into a sea of red ink. Strapped to a gurney and screaming for another hit, bank executives are now demanding a massive infusion of government (read: taxpayer) capital to re-inflate the bubble. But this would only serve to "throw good money after bad" by perpetuating the ever-expanding mountain of malinvestments. A better, "tough love" approach would be to simply allow the rotten structures to fall. This would liquidate bad investments and save precious capital for the rebuilding process. Unfortunately, the folks with the most to lose by "going clean" are the ones with the power. The daisy-chain of collapsing financial structures has laid bare a horror-show of cronyism and corruption at the very heart of our financial and political system. The revolving door between quasi-governmental financial entities (like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) and the Washington power circuit has created a dysfunctional New Class that is determined to keep the racket going at all costs. If left to their own devices, this clique will eventually transform America into a giant plantation, with the vast majority of the population reduced to toiling under a lifetime of indentured servitude. As I watched this circus of preposterous bailouts unfold last week, two distasteful ideas came to mind: First, the quaint notion that America has a free market economic system is gone. In reality, our government is manipulating nearly every aspect of our economy in an inefficient and horribly unjust manner. Market forces, which normally function to sort out winners and losers, have been largely replaced by arbitrary government diktats. For instance, our government is straining every fiber of its regulatory muscle to raise real estate prices (in a vain attempt to re-inflate the housing bubble). But this is not a socially neutral endeavor. After all, for every person who sells a house, there is also a buyer. When the government manipulates housing prices upward, the practical effect is to steal money from buyers and give the loot to the sellers. Or consider our interest rates. The Federal Reserve has been holding interest rates at absurdly low levels (even below the inflation rate) for years, because easy credit policies give a short-term "stimulus" to the economy (and help to keep the bankrupt federal government from paying higher finance charges). But for every borrower, there is a lender. If the government uses its influence to lower interest rates, it is essentially stealing money from lenders for the benefit of borrowers. Thus, folks who buy bonds or CDs are getting a far lower return on their investments because of the interventionist policies of their own government. Another example is the carefully orchestrated campaign to keep stock prices inflated. It is a poorly-kept secret that our government maintains a "plunge protection team" whose main duty is to prop up the Dow and prevent any major downturns in stock prices. Aside from the issue of whether stock prices are any of the government’s business at all (they aren’t), the government’s actions are again unfair and confiscatory. If a hypothetical investor analyzes the market and decides that stocks are overpriced, his most logical strategy is to sell short. If this assessment is correct and the market falls, he’ll make money. But government intervention to re-inflate stock prices steals wealth from the short sellers and gives it to long buyers. In essence, our government has implemented a series of massive interventions in the marketplace which harm certain individuals for the unearned benefit of others. By what right does the government do this? Why should a person who buys a house, or lends money, or short-sells stocks have his financial livelihood undermined by his own government? Are not lenders also citizens of our republic? Don’t short sellers pay taxes too? And why should those who sell houses, borrow money, or take a "long" position in stocks be the beneficiaries of arbitrary government interventions? Is the world somehow a better place because these individuals make money at the expense of those on the other side of the trades? The answer to these questions brings me to my second observation: The events of last week should make it abundantly clear – beyond any possibility of denial – that America is now a one-party state. The great political division in this society is not conservative vs. liberal, or even Republican vs. Democrat. The great division is between a small group of plutocrats on one side, and the rest of the population on the other. Time and again, high-powered, closed-door meetings were held to address the deepening crisis. Almost every major decision was made by people – like Fed Chairman Bernanke and Secretary of Treasury Paulson – who were never elected to anything and who are in no way accountable to the taxpayers for their decisions. On the other hand, our actual elected officials were reduced to mere bystanders. Almost to a man (and woman), congress offered little, if any, objection to the plans hatched by the moneymen – even though trillions of taxpayer dollars were at stake. Despite some grousing and posturing, Barack Obama and John McCain were united in their support for a government bailout. Not even the heat of a presidential campaign could elicit a hint of disagreement or debate between them. So the fix is in, and nothing is left for us but to watch events unfold. By engineering a multi-trillion dollar bailout of the financial system, our ruling elites have decided to save themselves at the expense of main street America. They have elected to shun the rigors of free market economics, opting instead to reach for the enticing crack-pipe of government largesse. And our bipartisan political class condoned this heist without any major objections. When the day of reckoning finally arrives, the results will not be pretty. Not my words. They were written by a doctor who has a practice in Ohio, Steven LaTulippe ********************************************************************************** I have seen many political "events" in my years, but I have never seen anything as devisive and full of unthinking, blind, raging hatred of one American by another as is now extant. It seems to rise on every page in comment sections, text matter and expository writing. Articles that have nothing to do with politics are suddenly ringing with comments belittling political parties. Our President shows blatant racism and animosity. Words like "stupid", "moron", "birther" (I'm not sure why that should be derogatory, nor exactly what it means, either), "right winger", "leftist commie", "asshole" and on and on. Now, I'm not one to eschew a well used curse word. Far from it. But to try to deliberately hurt someone who has expressed him/herself in good (or at least fair) English, mystifies me. After all, I can discuss and argue with someone without that kind of thing entering my conversation. (Wild Thing says I loose this knack when voicing my thoughts about the government. [both Republican and Democrat.]) Ah, well, it's a bitch being ambitongued. And so I ask, Quo Vadis America?

I wonder how Neil feels?
WAPAKONETA, Ohio - Officials at an Ohio museum dedicated to Neil Armstrong said a cheddar cheese sculpture of the astronaut softened and fell from its base.
Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum officials in Wapakoneta said the facility's air conditioning unit turned off automatically overnight and the resulting heat caused the sculpture to soften, resulting in the nearly one ton of cheese falling from its base, WHIO-TV, Dayton, Ohio, reported Tuesday.
The statue was carved during the course of 59 hours Friday, Saturday and Sunday by artist Sarah Kaufmann as part of festivities marking the 40th anniversary of Armstrong's walk on the moon.

It is the month of August, on the shores of the Black Sea.
It is raining, and the little town looks totally deserted.
It is tough times, everybody is in debt and everybody lives on credit.
Suddenly, a rich tourist comes to town.
He enters the only hotel, lays a 100 Euro note on the reception counter, and goes to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one.
The hotel proprietor takes the 100 Euro note and runs to pay his debt to the butcher.
The Butcher takes the 100 Euro note, and runs to pay his debt to the pig grower.
The pig grower takes the 100 Euro note, and runs to pay his debt to the supplier of his feed and fuel.
The supplier of feed and fuel takes the 100 Euro note and runs to pay his debt to the town's prostitute that in these hard times, gave her "services" on credit.
The hooker runs to the hotel, and pays off her debt with the 100 Euro note to the hotel proprietor to pay for the rooms that she rented when she brought her clients there.
The hotel proprietor then lays the 100 Euro note back on the counter so that the rich tourist will not suspect anything.
At that moment, the rich tourist comes down after inspecting the rooms and takes his 100 Euro note, after saying that he did not like any of the rooms and leaves town.
No one earned anything.
However, the whole town is now without debt, and looks to the future with a lot of optimism.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is economic recovery stimulus.

Today's govermental efficiency
There is an old saying that goes...the most frightening thing a person can hear is, "I'm from the government and I'm here to help."
The government is famous for world class screw ups, and while this one may not be world class, I think we could all see this one coming a mile away. It came out last week.
An 83-year-old Maryland man said he was shocked to receive a federal stimulus check addressed to his mother, who's been dead since 1967. Social Security Administration officials said the mid-June deadline for mailing out the checks does not leave enough time for thorough examinations of the program's records. They said an estimated 10,000 of the 52 million checks that have been mailed out were addressed to deceased people. And just today I saw a story on myfoxny.com that pretty much said the same thing. In their story, Antoniette Santopadre of Valley Stream was expecting a $250 stimulus check, but when her son finally opened it, they saw that the check was made out to her father, Romolo Romonini, who died in Italy 34 years ago. He'd been a U.S. citizen when he left for Italy in 1933, but only returned to the United States for a seven-month visit in 1969.The feds blame a rushed schedule, because all the checks have to be cut by June. The strange thing is, some of the checks were made out to people -- like Romonini -- who were never even part of the Social Security system.
So apparently there are so many holes in the system that dead people from Italy are drifting in. That should make you feel confident!
I have nothing but confidence in the Obama administration. (Crossing fingers behind back.)

************************************************************************************ 10 Principles for Immigration Reform
1. The purpose of U.S. immigration policy is to benefit the citizens of the United States.
2. Since immigration policy can profoundly shape a country, it should be set by deliberate actions, not by accident or acquiescence, with careful consideration to ensure that it does not adversely affect the quality of life of American citizens and their communities.
3. Immigration policy should be based on and adhere to the rule of law. Immigration laws must be enforced consistently and uniformly throughout the United States.
4. Non-citizens enter the United States as guests and must obey the rules governing their entry. The U.S. government must track the entry, stay, and departure of all visa-holders to ensure that they comply fully with the terms of their visas, or to remove them if they fail to comply.
5. The borders of the United States must be physically secured at the earliest possible time. An effective barrier to the illegal entry of both aliens and contraband is vital to U.S. security.
6. Those responsible for facilitating illegal immigration shall be sought, arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law and shall forfeit any profits from such activity. This applies to smugglers and traffickers of people, as well as to those involved in the production, procurement, distribution, or use of fraudulent or counterfeit documents.
7. U.S. employers shall be given a simple and streamlined process to determine whether employees are legally eligible to work. Employers who obey the law shall be protected both from liability and from unfair competition by those who violate immigration law. The violators shall be subject to fines and taxes in excess of what they would have paid to employ U.S. citizens and legal residents for the same work.
8. Those who enter or remain in the United States in violation of the law shall be detained and removed expeditiously. Illegal aliens shall not accrue any benefit, including U.S. citizenship, as a result of their illegal entry or presence in the United States.
9. No federal, state or local entity shall reward individuals for violating immigration laws by granting public benefits or services, or by issuing or accepting any form of identification, or by providing any other assistance that facilitates unlawful presence or employment in this country. All federal and law enforcement agencies shall cooperate fully with federal immigration authorities, and shall report to such authorities any information they receive indicating that an individual may have violated immigration laws.
10. Illegal aliens currently in the United States may be afforded a one-time opportunity to leave the United States without penalty and seek permission to reenter legally if they qualify under existing law. Those who do not take advantage of this opportunity will be removed and permanently barred from returning.

CLARE, Mich. - Members of a Michigan police department, apparently unafraid of jokes at their expense, banded together to purchase their favorite doughnut shop.
The Clare Police Department, which has nine full-time officers, purchased the Clare City Bakery and changed the name to Cops & Doughnuts after discovering the previous owners were planning to close down the 113-year-old shop, WNEM-TV, Saginaw, Mich., reported Tuesday. The officers said they are volunteering their time with the bakery and will not be paid for their services.
They said the shop will be staffed by high school and college students. Cops & Doughnuts apparel, including a T-shirt stating, "You Have The Right To Remain Glazed," are now available. http://www.copsdoughnuts.com/

MICHAEL JACKSON, BILLY MAYS AND OTHER PEEVES

Don't forget to click the header.
I think that pic was taken at a dedication to a new High School here.
***********************************************************************************
Michael Jackson was an entertainer par excellence. He was also a child molester. I would've thought the family and his "fans" might have wanted to get the whole thing over in a hurry.
***********************************************************************************
Billy Mays was a loud mouth, offensive person. He was not an entertainer. OTOH, he was not a child molester. But what appeal he had, seemed to lie with those whose IQ was somewhere below 90 percentile points. People I know inform me that they, too, have no desire to be shouted at when someone wants them to do something. Especially by a guy hiding behind a beard.
************************************************************************************
I suppose I shouldn't admit it, but I have friends who have wild senses of humor:
To honour Michael Jackson after his death, Macdonalds is introducing a Mr Jacko burger.
It’s a piece of 50 year old meat stuck between two 8 year old buns.
I don't know why I put this in here. (And no, I will not mention my friend's name. I'm saving it to blackmail the person.)
************************************************************************************
TV Commercials
It is not just the horribly loud commercials, but now cable TV (Comcast, in my experience) allows the volume to vary wildly from channel to channel. Case in point: watching one channel at comfortable sound volume for an hour (muting the too loud commercials) and then switching to another channel, can cause severe pain in one's ears (to say nothing about causing neighbors to consider a call to 911 to report a violence problem in your home).
The failure of the volume control works the other way also, causing some stations to come in so softly they cannot be heard without increasing the volume level. It's a game called sound ping pong. And it's not pleasant. When one complains to Comcast about this problem, one is met with a smarmy, albeit sincere, female voice commiserating with the problem. But she unfailingly denies that Comcast can, in any way, control these volume changes.
Isn't it strange that less than two years ago these problems did not exist? It would seem that Comcast has either destroyed or turned off its control over the volume of broadcast signals. But it has also failed to tell the viewing public or its employees about managements actions.
Comcast, for a number of years controlled the volume of all stations they sold to us. They did not vary in volume. To suggest that Comcast can't control the volume seems a form of idiocy. Philosophically, it seems to be a case of the public be damned.
Realistically, it seems to be a case of ignore the protesters, they'll go away. Our government needs to give the FCC laws with sharp, long teeth and the manpower to act and convict on proof of the failure of control by the Cable and Satellite suppliers. And fines for the networks themselves. As is said: "ignorance of the law is no excuse". (It would be good if we could apply that rule to the illegal invasion of our country, too.)

THE SCARY SIDE OF THE U. S.

Have a yummy time when you click the header.
******************************************
I get emails from many sites (have to have a program to keep track of my passwords) nad one I get is from a basically humor news letter. But here's an introduction to one of his latest emails:
I am in the neighborhood of 50-years-old (ahem), I have a 401k that I have been contributing to for 13 or 14 years, my wife has an IRA that she has been contributing to for about the same amount of time. We also have a savings account which provides us with a fund for if the engine in one of our cars blows up for an uninsured reason or if we need a few extra thousand for a vacation, etc.
We are currently in our second house since getting married but thanks to an increase in property values we have about 35 percent equity in the house. We also started college savings accounts for each of our boys when they were born, which isn't going to cover four years at university but will give us a nice head start for each of them. To listen to it you'd think we were in pretty good shape, but apparently our toes are hanging over the edge of disaster.
Until recently David Walker was comptroller general of the United States, meaning he was head auditor for the most important and powerful government in the world. In an interview last year Walker warned that there is a $43 trillion hole in America's public finances that's getting worse every day, and it is eventually going to lead to a financial collapse that will make my (and your) retirement plans disappear in a wave of recession, inflation and unemployment. It's becoming increasingly obvious that, within the next 10 years, the U.S. government will simply not be able to borrow money fast enough to keep up with its exploding expenses.
The Economic Policy Institute recently projected that under the current tax regime, by 2014 all government revenue would be consumed by four areas of spending: health care for the elderly and the poor, Social Security for retirees, national defense and interest on the debt.
Interest on the national debt would be about half of all government tax revenues by 2031. And ten years later, the cost of servicing the debt will exceed all government revenues.
History provides some harrowing examples of what happens when an economy collapses under the weight of unsustainable debt. One of the most chilling is Argentina in 2001. When the International Monetary Fund cut off its support for the country's escalating debt, the effect was catastrophic: the value of the national currency plunged, decimating the savings of millions. The resulting surge in inflation and sudden slowdown in consumer spending put thousands of businesses into bankruptcy within weeks.
That, in turn, put further millions out of work and pushed one of South America's biggest economies into a punishing recession.
As unfathomable as it may seem, most economists think something like that could happen in the United States. Doesn't sound very cheery, does it?
Imagine if the company you work for suddenly went bankrupt and the market was so bad that you couldn't find a job for more than half of what you were making (if you could find work at all). You decide to cash in all of your savings and retirement funds to make ends meet to discover that what used to be worth 30, 40 or maybe 50 thousand dollars is now worth about 15 or 20. How long do you think you would keep your house or even your car? It makes you want to start writing letters to congressmen, doesn't it?
**********************************************************************************
Now, the author is normally a cheerful, lets have a laugh, kind of guy. But I didn't find anything to laugh at in this part of his email. Like so many other Americans he is definitely worried about his and his family's future. Maybe we should be writing BO?
**********************************************************************************
I also got this in my email:
A Message from the Boss
Fellow Business Executives:
As the CEO of this business that employes 140 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our next President, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.
To compensate for these increases, I figure that the Clients will have to see an increase in our fees of about 8%, but since we cannot increase our fees right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay off six of our employees instead.
This has really been eating at me for a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who will have to go.
So, this is what I did. I strolled through our parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off.
I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them. If you have a better idea, let me know.
Sincerely,
The Boss

Dear Sirs, One of my checks was returned marked "insufficient funds."
In view of current developments in the banking industry, does that refer to me or to you? Sincerely,

It's also time for the kind of joke I never tell. I've got too much couth for this.
It has just been reported that the head gardener at The White House has been dismissed after 28 years of loyal service to the many US presidents.
When interviewed the gardener protested his innocence and said "All I know is I was walking past the Oval Office and I asked, "Has anyone seen the spade and the hoe." The next thing I knew I was fired."

EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA!

If you are interested in Justice Sotomeyer and her jailing and denying civil rights to a couple of Americans, click the header. **************************************** Goin' to have a smorgasbord here, now. Pay close attention as I will not be repeating any of them again. (I hope.) ***************************************** There's finally a semi serious movement afoot to totally ban texting throught the U.S. Imagine. We have to point out that you're five or six times more likely to have an accident than in any other automotive violation (except speeding, of course). How sad it is to have to create a law against this sort of thing (especially knowing how badly our lawmakers write laws). But wait. There may be still other ways, like: Perhaps a vow to cede your first born to the State if you ever violate this common sense approach would be appropriate? Perhaps a robotic control in all vehicles that, should the driver be texting, will shut down the engine, prevent restart and call the police to hand out a ticket in the range of, say $25,000 for the first offense, with geometric fines as the number of one's violations grow. For one thing, that might end the short fall some states consistently have due to their pork barreling. Or we could, for various degrees of violations, remove a lung, kidney, or other anatomical parts to be used to repair those victims who need these parts due to a texting driver causing a smashup? Just sayin'. ********************************************************************************* Social Security Hoo Haw This will come as a shock to those who don't know the history of Social Security, but it was devised by Franklin Roosevelt (a President, the only one to be elected four times) who, although from an extremely wealthy family, saw that the average man did not have the wherewithal when the time came for him to retire. And the guy might get a gold plated watch from the business where he had worked for fifty years. But no money to help him survive. He had earned enough money to raise his family in a reasonable manner, but often could not put money aside for retirement. Which meant his kids had to support him and his wife in their old age. And if the kids wouldn't, or couldn't, do that, then he and his wife would go to an "old folks home" where the remainder of their years would be dictated by rare gifts and hoping they got enough to eat while receiving virtually no medical care. Well, this ticked Franklin off and he created and got the Social Security Act passed. He thought he had written it so the greedy politicians in the Senate and House couldn't get their hands on it for pork barrel projects. And he had. He designed the bill to get money to the retirees. Their employers had no retirement or pension plans for them. The attitude among the greedy CEO's was sort of "to hell with you, I've got mine". (If that sounds familiar, so be it.) The money was to be used for no one else than retirees, for nothing else. Retirees and those injured on the job. Period. But the greedy ones figured out ways to add the needy children of fathers who couldn't care less about them and to add people who claimed to be handicapped and to add money to pay for some very phony mental problems that people claimed they had. They called that "Social Security", too. So we were screwed by the Democrats once again. And just in case you think I'm a hotheaded Republican here's a couple of facts for you: 1. I am a registered Democrat. Have been for years. 2. In my opinion, FDR and HST (this president really had no middle name. He smilingly made a word play on the phrase Harry S (Hairy Ass) and although some reporters told the whole story, it seems people weren't bright enough to understand. Truman had guts. These two are high up on my list of Presidents I feel have done most for their country. Which brings us to what needs to be done for SS. Simple. Take the phony "handicapped" off the rolls. Do not pay SS money to children. After all, they never had a job to pay into it. Social Security was not designed for them. Make funds available only for retirees. The other part is: Inaugurate new monetary bases for the handicapped (real or faked) and new bases for the children of "breeders." Leave Social Security to do its own work. Maybe if those who don't deserve to receive anything from it were removed, the seniors wouldn't have to be in the poorest grouping of Americans. Just sayin'. *********************************************************************************** Obama The Killer? Obama Kills Fly During Interview AP (June 16) Talk about flying at your own risk. However, the latest email carries this: I am in the neighborhood of 50-years-old (ahem), I have a 401k that I have been contributing to for 13 or 14 years, my wife has an IRA that she has been contributing to for about the same amount of time. In an interview last year Walker warned that there is a $43-trillion hole in America's public finances that's getting worse every day, and it is eventually going to lead to a financial collapse that will make my (and your) retirement plans disappear in a wave of recession, inflation and unemployment. Interest on the national debt would be about half of all gov-ernment tax revenues by 2031. The only fault I find with this is that Social Security is NOT for retirees only. (See Social Security Hoo Haw above). **********************************************************************************

THE FLY, EMAIL, STRANGE FORMAT

I thought you might like to be reminded of a few months ago. So there you are, shovel and all.
********************************
Don't forget, click the header.
*******************************************************************************
I get email. I mean lots of email. Lots and lots and lots. Some of it I have even asked to receive.
Among the requested missives are a number of highly desired communications.
(I also have an variety of names I have signed up with and an infinite number of passwords that vary from 9 to 14 keyboard clicks. (Thank heavens for Roboform.)
I get upset when I have to scroll through a drop down menu to identify which state I live in. (A simple box for me to type it into would suffice. New Mexico is way down on the list.)
I rarely use my real phone number (the Do Not Call list only works once in a while, and no, I have not insured my car against uninsured breakdowns).
The space where it asks for my phone number? Well, 505-555-1212 works in those little boxes.
Yes, I'm a bit irritable where some obscure company wants me to tell them anything about what I am or do. (I've also been a Doctor, President of a famous computer magazine, head of the English Department at an Ivy League College, an automobile mechanic with more than 86 mechanics working under me, a kid in his second year of college and on and on. I have a lot of personal fun on the internet. But none of my poses hurt anyone.
Back to what started all this: I get a regular email from a newsy sort of company and the messages are difficult to read for a couple of reasons. Some have strange or out of place characters in them and/or broken lines where there should not be broken lines. I'll try to show it here, but with the vagaries of Blogger, you never know what you'll get.

I am so glad to bring that information to you, fellow Americans. Talk about BO saving the nation from that fly's offspring should warm the cockles of your hearts.
Hurrah, Mr. President.
Is there any chance of your either starting or keeping us out World War III? I know that's a petty question after the astounding news of your triumph over musca domestica.
But we'd kinda like to know.
