A BURNING QUESTION?

Have you ever sworn at a computer?
David Macmahon, of http://david-mcmahon.blogspot.com/ asked this question on his web site.
.
I've started a reply more than once, denying, each time, that I would ever do such a thing to an inanimate object. And each time Wild Thing has made strangling noises in her throat. And Schotzy smiled (yes, she can smile. Or maybe that's a sneer.) in my direction. All of those posts have been deleted. So there.
.
Confession is good for the soul, I'm told. I forget who told me that (probably my Mom, years and years ago.) So here's my confession:
Yes, dammit. However, in my defense, I recognized soon that cursing only helped my mental state. It didn't do a thing for, nor to, the damn computer.
Further, in my defense, I was really cursing the software, not the machine.
That being the case, I guess I have never sworn at the computer.
.
Now, I will admit to having used unsavory language regarding the keyboard. It sometimes puts strange and unpronounciable words on my screen . There is no excuse for it and I often threaten to replace it with a smarter tool.
So there, David.
.
Don't forget the header. It's from the UK.

NO, NO, NO! NOT NOW. NOT HERE

This is a violation of my rights. You know, the right to have a s**w free winter.
Yeah, it snowed here last night. (If I didn't know better I'da thunk Lin sent this to plague me.)
Actually that picture came from a friend in Wisconsin. But that stuff did indeed decide to violate our pristine existence.
I'm thinking of sending it to David Macmahon. Shock the hell out of those Banana Benders.
Keep a stiff upper lip. Cheerio.
Don't forget to click the header.

DAVID MCMAHON WANTS TO KNOW

Just visited David McMahon's blog (click the header) and he posed an open question to all bloggers. And the question is: "What do you like most about blogging?" I thought of all the marvelous people who have bothered themselves enough to read and post to my drivel, er, writing, and the fun I've had visiting their blogs and learning different points of view . I thought of its therapeutic value, the laughter, the genuine heartfelt postings that make me feel pleasure in other bloggers writing. The pictures are great, too. (Babzy has wonderful choices on her blog. I wonder if she learned that from David? Nah. Not with her sense of humor.) And a picture of Dubya catching fish in flooded New Orleans is too good to pass up. My personal feeling is that we learn from each other (at least I do). It's good, too, when another blogger is having problems that I think I might be able to help with. And writing deathless prose is good for the ego. At least it is for me. (I hear you laughing out loud, moose.) It seems to me that I cannot pick just one thing, David. There are sooo many more things that I like about blogging. Now y'all get busy and answer his question.

WHAT'S A FAVORITE TOY OF MINE?

One of my favorite sites is http://david-mcmahon.blogspot.com/ David often asks those reading his site a question that can be answered by a posting on one's own blog. This weekend his question is: Which toy was your childhood favourite?
I can think of several. One of them might have the Chinese grinning in satisfaction. Smug satisfaction. Oh, well.
For whatever youthful birthday I was given two sets of lead soldiers in opposing uniforms North and South, I think. I learned to play with them from John Wayne and Bill Bendix movies. (It didn't matter if the North or South won, either.) I also remember being told (many more times than a mere once or twice, not to put them in mouth). Finally, a statement from an uncle to the effect that "Putting them in your mouth will take all the paint off", worked.
Another toy that finally drove my parents into hiding it from me on a top shelf was THE Chemistry set. I particularly enjoyed the phial of mercury, 'cause it could do almost anything. I liked trying to make concoctions that could stink up at least my room, if not the entire house. I often wondered where the kit had gone. I found it years later, but I had passed high school chemistry by then and what was left of the chemicals had hardened in their containers.
But another toy that became an obsession was my shortstop fielder's glove. The hours I spent working neat's foot oil into that (honestly) cheap leather glove could have served to complete my elementary education. BUT, I became our pick up team's shortstop. Was pretty good at it too.
You can visit David's site at the link above. He's a worthwhile read and very nice guy.
